Well here we are in the last few weeks of this year, one I’m sure most people will be pleased to leave behind them. It’s now time to move forward, to think positively and to get ready for a more positive and productive year.

Perhaps you might even want to make some changes. I know that often when people hear the word change they immediately default to, “no way, I’m quite happy this way.”

Change is really a constant, after all we go from one day, one week and one month to the next so it’s not actually change that brings up fear. Its’ usually what we would like to change.

Maybe it’s behavior or habit, wanting to retire or to start your own business but you are afraid to leave the comfort of the zone you are in even though it’s not really how you want to live your life.

If I look back and think about my life, as scary as it was at times, if I had not been willing to take risks I might have stayed stuck living a life where I really wasn’t very happy.

One of the biggest changes I had to make was with my thinking. I grew up in London, UK. My childhood was based in fear, doing what I was told and thinking I had to be perfect.

This is a much bigger story, so I’m going to cut this down to the basics just so you can see what can be achieved if you change your thinking. If anyone had told me in the 80’s that I would become an entrepreneur, owning my own business and an author, I would have told them they were crazy.

However when you are willing to take risks and learn to believe in yourself, it’s amazing what you can actually achieve. Nothing happens without work. I trained and got my certifications as a coach, clinical hypnotherapist and stress management counselor. During this time I was also taking classes on personal development and marketing and in order to live I also had a job so my days were long but I was very determined.

It took quite a number of years and many mistakes to change my thinking and to let go of having to be perfect, also to not worry about what other people thought. But it did eventually happen and I created a successful business and the kind of lifestyle I wanted to live.

I loved to see the changes my clients made when they realized just by thinking differently, setting goals and planning, they could achieve the kind of lifestyle they wanted.

After being a coach and clinical hypnotherapist for 30 years, I took a break. During that time I decided I didn’t want to retire. I’ve been asked many times why not, after all I am 80 and I have a lovely life. My answer has always been the same, “age is just a number and I want to continue helping people to achieve the lifestyle they want to live.”

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are too old to do something you want to achieve and never worry about what other people think. This and not having to be perfect is something I’ve taught hundreds of people over the years and because they changed their thinking they changed their whole life.

I am adding a few things to this chapter of my life so that I can round it off properly. I have a wonderful colleague/friend, Cheryl Major, who is a trained nutritionist, in case you would like to know more about anti-dieting.

It’s amazing what you can learn from the right person. I want to live as healthy as I can until I’m 100 so it became important that I learned how to eat in the healthiest way possible so I added that to the intermittent fasting I’ve been doing for the past few months which is also changing my life both physically and mentally and is much easier than I thought it would be.

The best way to find out what kind of lifestyle you want to live, in my opinion, is to do some kind of quiet reflection. I find that journaling or just taking time in a quiet place works for me. You may have other ideas about how to create quiet reflection so do whatever works for you.

Find a place where you won’t be interrupted. You might find it easier to be away from your office, maybe the park or a Starbucks or just a quiet room, no technology, not even your phone.

You can write about anything but one of the most important questions to write is “What kind of lifestyle do you want to have by December 2022.

Having the answer to this will make it easier for you to set goals, create a plan of action and then break it down so that you know weekly and monthly what you need to do to achieve the outcome you want by the end of next year. Setting goals is not just about finances, it’s about anything you want to achieve in the coming year. It could be travel, clear up debt, lose weight write a book, have a business and so forth.

Remember a goal not written is just a wish. It’s really important to hand write your goals so that you have a very clear picture of what you want.

I’m here to be of service to you so if you have any questions or just want to chat, please don’t hesitate to email me at Hazel@LiveYourAbundantLife.com.

Next time I write the WW Christmas will have been and gone and the New Year will be a few days away. Have an absolutely wonderful Christmas holiday and make 2022 your best year yet.

‘Til Next Time
Have a lovely holiday week
Live life with abundance
